The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”
In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, his comments suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I am serious. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”
The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
