Liverpool's Star Offers Statement to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has disclosed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the entire Liverpool squad following the fallout from his recent interview.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
âSalah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,â Jones revealed. âHe said sorry to the group and was like: âShould anyone feel slighted, I apologise.ââ
The head coach has chosen not to reveal on whether he got an explanation from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
He emphasized that the team's response stayed normal. âHe was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,â Jones added.
The midfielder also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. âI understand there are specific approaches you can go about things,â he said. âBut if a ladâs fine to just sit out, then I think thatâs a bigger problem.â
On-Field Response
The team's performance have been impressive in the matches since the interview fallout. Jones believes the outburst were not intended to destabilise the squad.
âIn moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a place of caring,â the midfielder stated. âWeâre past that now and weâre building chemistry, getting results and starting to win games.â
