Ethiopia Welcomes Cultural Treasures Following a Century Residence in Germany
Around Twelve historical artefacts were ceremoniously given back to the Ethiopian nation after being kept by a household from Germany for over ten decades.
These treasures, initially gathered in the 1920's by Germany's then-envoy to Ethiopia Franz Weiss and his spouse his partner, were transferred on this past Wednesday to the Institute of Ethiopian Studies at the university in Addis Ababa.
The assortment included headpieces, protective shields and paintings, all viewed as historically important in Ethiopia.
"These items continue to stand as a mark of the long-standing and amicable connection between Germany and Ethiopia," stated the German diplomat, the ambassador to the East African country.
Dr. Ramon Wyss, whose parent was delivered during the household's assignment in the nation, delivered the artefacts at a event attended by the Minister of Tourism the tourism official.
He explained that the household's intention to restore the items was to "share their splendor with the public and maintain the heritage and history linked to my father's birth."
